We started hearing dripping in the ceiling of our first-floor near the chimney. It could also be heard loudly on the second-floor floor at the same area. It was loud enough to wake me up in the middle of the night. It was happening while raining. At first, we didn't think much of it but after months of this, we started seeing water marks on the first floor ceiling. See image 1. Also, water would sometimes drip in the house.We looked online for roofers and found Standard Roofing. After thousands of dollars and poor project management and care, Standard Roofing failed to fix the problem. They rushed and didn't know how to troubleshoot well.We heard about Smart Roofing from a good friend. We contacted them and Dale came out and inspected the roof and attic in detail to get a full picture. Then he came back in a timely manner and took a crack at fixing the problem. He spent an hour or two patching things up. He said to let him know after a rain or two if the leak is gone. It turned out it still leaked. No payment had happened yet.This is the moment of truth I thought. Will he come back and try again? I was confident it would be an iterative process of trial and error and that the problem with Standard Roofing was that they weren't able to troubleshoot properly. I called Dale and he got back to me promptly again and said he'd come out and try again with the new information. I saw no sign he would give up on us which is the opposite of the project manager at Standard.He came out again in timely manner for an hour or so on a dry day and this time fixed it. We got heavy rains a few days after the fix, and heard no loud in-cavity dripping, saw no new water on the ceiling and saw no fresh water in the attic by the chimney.My wife and I were hugely relieved. Smart Roofing will be our #1 pick for future roofing projects. Throughout the process Dale was responsive and friendly. Bottom line, he treated our roof like it was his own - like his own family was under it. This is what it took to fix the issue as it turns out. He did what I would have done if I was a roofer - carefully inspect the problem, try a fix, see if it works, if not, try again with the new information. We thought we had damage from the high winds a week or so ago. Joey came out the day after we called and did a full inspection. He said we may need a new roof in a few years and provided a prompt and thorough estimate. More importantly, he did some quick repairs to what the apparent damage was and assured us that it wasn't a serious issue. Very nice to touch things up for us and not try to tell us we needed a roof now!

We had a few roofing companies come out and give us a quote on a tear-off roof replacement on our two-story home and shed. We worked with Dale Smart and he was EXTREMELY knowledgeable, friendly and very easy to work with. He did not pressure us into any contract, but worked with us very diligently to come to an agreement on the price of our project that we were both happy with. He was very patient in waiting until WE were ready to proceed with our project. Dale and his crew were AMAZING! They arrived on the date and time that he said he was going to arrive and was extremely organized with his crew and material. He kept us informed throughout the entire roof replacement project. His crew worked extremely hard putting in over a 12 hour day which included replacing the roof boards as well as laying the shingles on our house and shed. They completed the job in an amazing time frame without any interruptions to our daily routine. The clean up was spotless, every piece of removed shingle, paper and nail were cleaned up, you would not have known we had our roof replaced. Dale noticed when we had our roof boards replaced that our bathroom vent was not hooked up correctly in the attic, so he even took the time to replace the vent so that it would now work properly. We would DEFINITELY recommend Dale Smart and his company. We are so glad we chose them!

Due to the major winds that we had on 3/13/26, I had many shingles come off. I was worried about the rain and snow on its way and needed to do something quickly to help prevent more damage. I did a google search and went down the line trying to call the different companies listed. The first couple I called, they told me that they do not do patch jobs. Then I tried Smart Roofing and Dale answered. He said that he understood my issue and would be able to get out today. After a short time later, he called me and said that he was on his way. He secured the remaining shingles and patched the missing areas. He also offered to work with my insurance company to try and help get them to pay for the repairs. Thank you Dale and your staff!

HELP! I HAVE WATER DRIPPING FROM A BATHROOM VENT! I knew who to call, Smart Roofing, who my family has used for over 15 years on 4 different roofs. I told him I needed a new roof and gutters. He came and inspected my roof and gutters and let me know my gutters didn't need replacement but my roof, yes. He helped me pick out the shingles that met my needs and fit the style of my home. The day before, they came and put the supplies on my roof so they were ready to go! The day of, the crew came and worked and kept me informed on the progress. They were polite and the crew chief made sure the site was clean before they left.You want Smart for your home!

In a world of dishonest companies and home sellers, Dale proves that good people and companies still exist. We recently moved into a home and have been on a seemingly never ending trail of repairs, and in this current saga our roof began leaking in the portion our seller replaced in 2023. We reached out to multiple companies, but Dale was extremely responsive and made us feel like a priority compared to others. When he came out he offered multiple approaches and thoroughly explained each one. He did not try to sell us on more than we needed to resolve our current issue though he did tell us his opinion on what he felt was a long term solution when it comes time to replace our roof. I highly recommend Smart Roofing. Joe provided a very detailed explanation of what the job would involve. He also gave me the addresses of homes whose roofs Smart had replaced so that I see what the different colors of shingles samples looked like in place. Dale and crew removed chimney, complete tear off, replaced gutter, pitched all gutters correct and added gutter guards. Dale made sure all problems with my 100 year old house and garage was done correct. The crew was professional, courteous, and general concern for my satisfaction that far exceeded my expectations. I appreciated the clean up that was done at the end of each day. If I could give them 10 stars I would!! Thank You Dale, Joe and crew.

Given the recent storms, I originally contacted my insurance company & started researching roofing companies. Joe provided an assessment, & concluded the job was too small to report a claim. He came through & took care of the quick fixes at my convenience. He was very thorough, and went above and beyond by confirming the crawl space didn’t have any damages. No other company did that, they just quoted a full replacement for a 10yr old roof or didn’t call back or show up at all! Dale and Joe stopped on out to address a cut in the pipe boot. Dale made it a priority to take time out of his busy day, and take care of this cut. He patched it, assured me that it would keep out rain, and he was done with it quickly. Upon being on my roof, he noticed I was missing a piece of shingle. He took it upon himself to also address this, and filled me in on what he saw as he was on the roof regarding any future repairs, or if we need to address anything else. I was in building maintenance for many years. Used to know guys who did this, guys who did that. I'm running out of guys tho, as we all get older, retire, etc.Didn't know a roofing guy anymore, and had a couple shingles blow off near the peak. Tried to get someone over. Handy-guys wanted a small fortune for this work. I caught Dale and one of his crews on a neighbor's roof, asked if he had a few minutes to have a look. He said he'd come over when finished.When done with the neighbor, when he and his crew should have been having a well earned beer, he drove over with one of his guys, who took care of the missing shingles, replaced a bunch more around them, as well as the adjacent ridge caps.When finished, I once again had a whole roof, even nominally color-matched to existing. Number of nails, staples, bits of shingle I had to clean up or found later in my garden: zero.The maybe-half of what I would have had to pay the handy-guy was offered to Dale, 1/4 of that was returned as "that's too much."He had his guy inspect the roof and go into the attic to look at the decking, and yeah, I need a roof. Don't have the coin for that right now, but when I do Smart will get the job.I know a roof guy again. Shows up, does the work. This is what they do.
